Based on the novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux, Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera is a musical theater production that has delighted audiences ever since it opened in 1986 in London's West End. Set in 19th-century Paris, the show follows the story of chorus girl Christine Daaé and the mysterious phantom, a disfigured musical genius living in the bowels of the Paris Opera House. While tutoring her on her vocals, the Phantom becomes dangerously obsessed with Christine, and as he begins to make his presence known, the growing tension within the opera house culminates in the Phantom and Christine meeting face to face. The recipient of both the Tony Award and Olivier Award for Best Musical, the show is Broadway's longest-running musical.

    The Bullpen

    151 W 46th St
    New York, NY 10036
Of all the life-changing discoveries made behind bars, a talent for writing and acting has to be one of the rarer prison-house epiphanies. Nevertheless, during his 25-year sentence for attempted murder, Joe Assadourian discovered just that: an affinity for language coupled with an ability to become not just "another person," but dozens of well-defined characters. Now, recently released from prison, Assadourian showcases his amazing gift in "The Bullpen", his 18-character solo show. Inspired by his own experience, "The Bullpen" follows a man who is arrested, arraigned and put on trial for a crime he claims he did not commit. He is then judged by two different courts: once by an actual jury of his jeers ... and then again by the fascinating and hilarious denizens of the "bullpen" in which he is being held.

    Once
    Bernard B. Jacobs TheaterAugust 30, 2014 2:00 PM
    242 West 45th Street
    New York, NY 10036
Adapted for the stage from the 2006 film of the same name, Once is a musical that follows the story of a street busker who falls in love with an unattainable woman. Often described as somewhat of an "anti-musical," the show features song performances without the standard Broadway elements of elaborate set designs, ornate costumes or general pageantry. Instead, the characters, who remain unnamed throughout the production, sing their songs in a raw manner as the woman helps the man realize his dreams of becoming an established musician and moving to New York. After premiering on Broadway 2011, Once quickly won the accolades of critics and patrons alike, locking down a total of eight Tony Awards in 2012.
