    »The Kills

    October 21, 2014

American vocalist Alison Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie Hince lived in separate countries when they first started making music together: Mosshart in the US, Hince in the UK. The two sent tapes of songs they were working on back and forth across the Atlantic for a while before Mosshart gave up and moved to England. The group released its debut LP, Keep on Your Mean Side, in 2003 and the combination of Hince's flippantly cool garage rock guitar licks and Moshart's sultry vocals helped the album to become one of the more memorable releases of the year. Playing shows as a duo, without the aid or a drummer or other backing musicians, highlights the natural chemistry between Hince and Mosshart and creates a stage dichotomy of sorts that brings attention to the similarities rather than the differences between the two musicians.
