Looking like a cross between a mountain man and a surfer, he emerged onto the music scene in 2002 with his rootsy sound and lyrics centered around social consciousness, environmental issues and Aboriginal rights. A favorite at music festivals around the world, Rudd often appears on stage surrounded by a cluster of instruments including an acoustic guitar, a lap steel guitar, a banjo and several yidakis.

Existing in two incarnations, The English Beat, or in the UK, simply The Beat, is a ska revival band(s) formed in England in 1978. With a focus on fusing two-tone, reggae, punk and new wave, the band(s) created a sound that was very unique at the time of its formation. Though the band released three hit albums that were well received in the UK, Australia and parts of the US, the group(s) broke up in 1983. Years later, in 2005, the band(s) decided to reform with most of the original members, and since then, both incarnations have toured throughout its respective countries.
