Existing in two incarnations, The English Beat, or in the UK, simply The Beat, is a ska revival band(s) formed in England in 1978. With a focus on fusing two-tone, reggae, punk and new wave, the band(s) created a sound that was very unique at the time of its formation. Though the band released three hit albums that were well received in the UK, Australia and parts of the US, the group(s) broke up in 1983. Years later, in 2005, the band(s) decided to reform with most of the original members, and since then, both incarnations have toured throughout its respective countries.
