    Out of Sight: New Acquisitions features added works, either donated or purchased, to the gallery's collection, many of which have not yet been shown to the public. The exhibition is built around photography by Harold Edgerton, who is known for his stroboscopic photography, a way of photographing that captures events too fast for the human eye. On Tuesdays the museum is open until 9p.

    Michael David Quattlebaum Jr. is a New York-based performance artist, hip-hop musician and poet who operates under the moniker Mykki Blanco. Blurring the lines between the prescribed images of rap artist masculinity, drag queen femininity and homosexuality, he morphs between a young, gay urban kid and his female alter ego, though he explains there is no difference between the two. Founder of NO FEAR performance art collective, Mykki Blanco creates music with the mission to not only combat discrimination but to shatter gender barriers.

    »Marian Penner Bancroft - Boulevard

    The commission, which is set up in the Yaletown-Roundhouse Station, uses the glass walls of the station to form a mirror effect of the winter trees depicted on Bancroft's photographs. The commission is an excellent example of Bancroft's use of physical framing as a tangible photographic field.

    »Primitive Man

    German Baroque music on the violin, Bach sonatas, early Beethoven and arias on strings and the clarinet, all this and more form the musical itinerary of the Vancouver Early Music Festival. Workshops and concerts from the Medieval to the Baroque age are also organized for better appreciation of the Western classical courses, catering both to musicians, music students and the general public. The Early Music Organization is internationally known for its study of music from the Middle Ages through the Romantic era. Concerts take place at the University of British Columbia Recital Hall.  Prices vary for each event; check the website for details.
