»St Matthew's Anglican Church

Saint Matthew's Church, located at the old town square site in historic Guildford, has had two lives. The original church was built in 1860. In 1872 it was destroyed by a storm. A christening was being held at the time but fortunately no one was hurt. The present church was built the following year, in 1873. A moat was also dug around the building. Today, you can still see the moat on three sides of the building.
