»Drake

March 03, 2015 7:30 PM

Canadian born rapper Drake had an impressive rise to fame shortly after he released his first mix tape in 2006. The remixes caught the ears of high profile artists like Kanye West, Eminem, Lil Wayne as well as Jay-Z, and they were immediately smitten by Drake's smooth approach to hip hop. Though the Canadian's music is well polished and clearly a byproduct of the modern music scene, there are traces of old school rap and hip hop that shine forth at spastic intervals.

»WU-NITED DRUNKEN ASSASSINS TOUR - CANCELLED

March 03, 2015 6:00 AM

Tha Alkaholiks, also known as Tha Liks, was an American hip-hop group from Los Angeles, California. Since the early 1990s they have produced funky, upbeat, hedonism-themed party music with a hardcore hip-hop edge, powered by the beats of DJ and producer E-Swift (born Eric Brooks in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA) and the lively, comedic rhymes of J-Ro (born James Robinson in Los Angeles) and Tash (born Rico Smith in Cincinnati). Though commercial crossover success largely eluded the group, they maintained a dedicated following on their native West Coast, throughout the United States and worldwide.Artist Description from Wikipedia, available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license

Sydney-based singer-songwriter Daniel Champagne is one of the city's true acoustic guitar masters. Combining his adept finger-picking style with an equally fluid singing style, Champagne writes melodic, romantic love ballads with as much heart as technique. Champagne has built a considerable following in his home city, and often frequents the city's largest folk and blues festivals. He is particularly phenomenal in live form, as he doesn't hesitate to show off his picking skills to enraptured audiences.

»Dz Deathrays

March 06, 2015 8:00 PM

DZ Deathrays (formerly known as just DZ), is an Australian dance punk duo based-out of Brisbane that consists of Shane Parsons and Simon Radley. Combining fuzzy guitars, blown-out bass tones, punk rock tempos, jittery disco beats and half sung/half screamed vocals, the group is very comparable to Canadian two-piece, Death From Above 1979. DZ Deathrays gained some notoriety very quickly around Australia, eventually being asked to join popular indie group Crystal Castles on tour after only ten months performing together. The band's debut EP, Ruined My Life, was released in 2009.
