Adapted for several on-stage and modern film production, Shakespeare's original tragedy Othello, the Moor of Venice, was adapted from an Italian short story that follows the character Othello, an African prince who works in Europe as a general. In Shakespeare's version, Othello is a general in the Venetian army who is persuaded into killing his wife before meeting his own tragic end. Themes of ambition, racism, jealousy and conspiracy run deep in this convoluted tale of love and desire.

The mischievous Cat in the Hat joins everyone's favorite Dr. Seuss characters at Youth Company Chicago's performance of the delightful musical "Seussical Jr.". Adapted from the Broadway version especially for young audiences, the company's talented summer theater camp students will bring to life onstage the tale of Horton the Elephant, who's out to prove that "a person's a person, no matter how small," and JoJo, a young boy who's a "thinker of strange and wonderful thinks." Along the way, they'll have adventures in the Jungle of Nool, the Circus McGurkus and the invisible world of the Whos of Whoville, encountering such beloved Seuss characters as grouchy Grinch, Gertrude McFuzz and lazy Mayzie. The whimsical stories are backed by myriad musical styles from Latin to pop, swing to gospel and R&B to funk. Dr. Seuss' sense of fun and wonder comes through loud and clear, making this a musical that appeals to all ages.
