    »Virginia Lake Recreation Area

    Nestled in the heart of Reno and surrounded by trees, there is an enchanting lake. With enough picnic and park benches for everyone, you will want to spend the day at this favorite local hangout. You will be able to walk, jog or even bicycle on a trail that encompasses this picturesque lake. As you meander along the trail, be sure to stop at the exercise stations that are here to assist you in staying in shape. The Virginia Lake Park for kiddies is directly across the street, along with public restrooms. And most of all, don't forget to bring a loaf of bread to feed the hundreds of ducks that live at the lake.

    What a wonderful place to spend the afternoon with the family. You will find lots of playground equipment for the kiddies at this small, but shady park. It sits across from the natural splendors of Virginia Lake, a haven for ducks and geese. When you get tired of the playground, just cross the street and feed the ducks. In a few moments, you'll be surrounded by hundreds of the quackers, begging for a treat. The park offers a covered cabana complete with half a dozen picnic tables and barbecues. You can relax and spend a quiet afternoon by a peaceful and serene lake or take a walk around the trail that encompasses the lake.

    This is a great place to bring the whole family. During the summer months, the natural bay is a cool place to hang out and people-watch, bird-watch or coach your loved ones while they practice. Even in winter, die-hard enthusiasts will practice their golf swing until the lake freezes over.

    Never-ending fun is what you will find at this incredible 40,000 square foot fun center, which features a wide array of activities and games for the entire family, including more than 200 of the latest most exciting video and redemption games. For those of you who like to get a little physical, the place offers magnetic bumper car rides, as well as Reno's first interactive laser tag arena, which houses a dynamic live action, high-tech game of hide-and-seek. This 5,000-square foot futuristic arena comes complete with music and special effects to make it both physically and mentally challenging. A batting cage and power pitcher for baseball simulation is also featured. For children ages one through eight, there is The Galaxian Theater and Tumble Town. During Spring it starts at 10a.

    If classic cars are your passion, then this museum is an absolute must-see. The 100,000-square-foot building houses one of the largest collections of antique automobiles to be found anywhere. The cars are grouped by age in street settings appropriate to their time. These real-life backdrops include everything from Burma Shave signs to old gas pumps. See the cars that were originally a part of the Harrah collection including a Cadillac that belonged to Elvis Presley.

    »Truckee River Walk

    This river flows from Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake nourishing farmland along its journey. Starting at Wingfield Park, you can walk for miles in either direction. Going east toward downtown Reno, you will pass the place where thousands of divorcees have thrown their wedding rings into the flowing waters. Birds of all kinds including Canadian geese, hawks and kingfishers can be seen foraging for food. Anglers can also enjoy the superb fishing the river offers.

    The only one of it's kind in the world, this is a national bowling stadium, and it's in Reno, Nevada. The place houses bowling lanes with scoreboards using the latest in technology. Weddings and meetings can be held here and many people choose to do so because of the uniqueness attached to the site. The bronze statue up front is a hit with the camera-happy families. The building houses a movie theater which boasts of having the largest screen in the world. It can be reached with the glass elevators which further enhance the appeal this stadium has.

    Come on down to this fun and unique farmers market, held during the summer months in Reno. More than 30 vendors set up booths and sell their wares. You will find an array of soaps, candles, fresh fruit and vegetables, cheese and fresh flowers. You can even watch bees make their honey in a glass hive right before your eyes. This is a great place to get everything you need for lunch or dinner with just one stop. The kids will also enjoy coming along. Individual vendors may accept credit cards.

    »Lake Ridge Golf Course

    You will be the talk of the town if you can make par on the 15th hole. The golfer must make the green, which is floating on an island 130-feet away. The course is a par-71 and 6,703 yards with plenty of water hazards to challenge any level golfer. Greens fees include a mandatory golf cart rental. Walkers are only permitted on course after 5:30pm.
