    August 22, 2014 8:00 PM

A young artist gets an eyeful -- and then some -- when she returns home to paint a double portrait of her parents in "Painting Churches", the Pulitzer-nominated play from Tina Howe ("Pride's Crossing"). In an addition to the portrait, Mags (the daughter) is on hand to help mom and dad, both Boston Brahmins reduced to living on beans, move from their Beacon Hill home to more modest digs out on Cape Cod. But keeping them still for the portrait -- while moving them on to the next stage of their lives -- reveals a great deal about her parents ... and about herself. Now, after patiently waiting for the rights to finally become available, the Gallery Theatre presents a fresh production of this funny and poignant play.

    »Comedian Bob Saget

    August 22, 2014 10:00 PM

While he's most widely known as the sweetly neurotic father on the classic sitcom "Full House" and the wisecracking host of "America's Funniest Home Videos", Bob Saget has another side that fans of his stand-up comedy know and love. After his outrageously profane performances in the stoner comedy "Half Baked", on HBO's "Entourage" and in the hit documentary "The Aristocrats", Saget's brand of out-of-his-mind scatological humor has been unleashed on an unsuspecting public. Fresh off a Grammy nomination for his comedy album "That's What I'm Talkin' About" and the release of his hilarious new memoir, "Dirty Daddy", Saget brings his witty crowd work and tell-all stories from behind the scenes of everyone's favorite childhood show to the stage of the Brea Improv.

    »Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden

    August 22, 2014 7:00 PM

Led by singer/songwriter, musician and producer Trent Reznor, Nine Inch Nails is an industrial rock band that was formed in 1988. Mixing alternative rock with industrial music, the band helped popularize industrial rock starting with its 1989 debut album, Pretty Hate Machine. Due to several issues with its label TVT, Nine Inch Nails signed with Interscope Records for its 1994 follow-up LP, The Downward Spiral. Now considered a landmark record, the album offered a broad range of tones and textures to go along with its central narrative, calling attention to Reznor from mainstream artists who hailed him as one of the most influential people in music. The band has since continued to release music, including 2005's With Teeth and 2008's experimentalGhost I-IV. Though Nine Inch Nails appears as a band during live performances, Reznor remains the soul songwriter and permanent member.
