"The Nerd" is the comedic tale of Willum, a Vietnam vet who has it all: a promising career as an architect, great friends and a steady girlfriend. When an unexpected houseguest shows up at Willum's 34th birthday party, everything goes off the rails. Rick is a nerdy, bumbling oaf who happened to have saved Willum's life in Vietnam. Rick decides to move in, prompting Willum and friends to plot a scheme for getting rid of him. The comedy escalates as Willum attempts to "out-nerd" his houseguest during a dinner party. Taming Of The Shrew
Lewis Family PlayhouseApril 19, 2015 2:00 PM
12505 Cultural Center Drive
Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91739
The Taming of the Shrew is a comedy by English playwright William Shakespeare, and has been frequently adapted for film and stage despite being one of the Bard's most controversial plays. The plot follows the free-spirited "shrew" Katherina whose notorious temper has kept men from seeking her hand in marriage. However, one man, Petruchio, steps up to marry Katherina and begins the long process of "training" his new bride through the use of reverse psychology, effectively molding her, as a result, into an ideal wife by the end of the play. Despite being cited by many critics (even during the time in which it was written) as being overly misogynistic, others dismiss the play's overt misogyny as being neutralized by its obvious farcical nature, and could in fact be looked at as a caricature of misogyny--highlighting the shallowness and vulgarity of the characters as opposed to presenting them in a manner to be emulated.

Amy Herzog's "After the Revolution" is a smart, funny portrait of a family that must reconcile a thorny and delicate legacy. As we learn during history teacher Ben Joseph's opening speech commemorating his daughter Emma's graduation from law school, the Josephs' political views lean to the far left. Emma is proud of the Marxist tradition her grandfather Joe started, launching a legal fund to fight social injustice and naming it after him. But when evidence of Joe's spying comes to light, the family is forced to confront questions of honesty and allegiances. See this bold drama at the Chance Theater in Anaheim Hills.
