Literally named for its history of having charged people for using the bridge to cross the Isère River (péage means “toll” in French), Bourg-de-Péage has made a name for itself with its hat-making industry. Newer industries have been set up since the chapeau era, and the town now hosts a variety of other business developments, including technology. Rich with natural beauty, anyone can enjoy the rivers, hills, flower fields, hiking trails, and orchards that this town offers.
Situated adjacent to Valence and with access to many roads leading to south eastern Europe, Bourg-lès-Valence has a lot of appeal as a commune. Animation and cartoons are both produced and praised in this town, and there are festivals to pay homage to them. The commune also holds the annual Fête du Rhône (Rhône Festival) that celebrates the river which has helped it establish many industries throughout the years.
Eglise de Tain L'Hermitage is a small chapel close to the Rhone river. It is dedicated to St. Vincent which is frequently visited by locals and is vibrant with religious activities. Various choir services and concerts take place in this church.
Gare de Valence-Ville built in 1865, is the train station serving the commune of Valence. This station was designed by Louis Jules Bouchut and it connects most importance terminals in and around the city. The efficient service and frequency of trains make commuting easier for travelers.
