If you are the kind of person who loves to be constantly on the move, sight jogging is an activity to watch out for. This innovative idea combines jogging and sightseeing and takes you along 11 different routes combing the thrills of fitness and culture. Experienced and multi-lingual trainers act as the tour guides and make sure the tour suits your fitness level and age group. All routes are under seven miles. Visitors are picked up from their hotel (or other point of interest) and taken on a tour of their choice and dropped back. Groups up to four are allowed and can also avail of a reduced rate. Make sure you reserve at least a day in advance for your dose of sport and culture.

»Foro Italico Sports Complex

Noted for its Fascist architecture, this is one of the largest sports complex in the city. The Foro Italico houses the Olympic and Farnesina Stadiums and the Stadio dei Marmi, and is located in an area that can be surely considered as the heart of Roman sport. It is the undisputed center of all swimming-related activities. The Roman water-polo team is based here in the Stadio del Nuoto. In the Foro Italico there is also an athletics track, tennis courts and a roller-skating rink. Occasionally concerts are also held here.

The Appia Antica Park lies in the south-eastern part of Rome. The Park includes the Via Appia Antica, the Caffarella Valley, the archaeological area of the Via Latina and other archaeological sites and natural areas. Park authorities offer free guided tours on Sunday mornings however the road is closed to traffic. Yet you will find hordes of tourists arriving. It is a great place with a lot of history. It seems this is where Spartacus and a majority of his rebel army were crucified. Guided tours are available though the best way to explore the place is by foot or by bike. During the week the green fee is lesser than the charges on Sundays. The 18-hole course is open all year to club members. Lessons are available. It has something for everyone with a Ferris wheel that allows for great views over the whole area, a roller coaster, a haunted house, etc. Kiosks sell candyfloss and the popular Grattachecca in summer. Of course there are the booths for testing your strength and skills but beware: most of these are a rip-off!
