Ruston High School is a reputed institution located in Ruston, Louisiana. Apart from its notable faculty and alumni, it is known for its remarkable architecture that can be credited to its mention in the National Register of Historic Places. The seven-acre (2.8-hectare) campus was built in 1939 in Art Deco style and is one of the best examples of this style in the state. Even though the construction underwent many changes over the years, its architectural features were duplicated to a great extent. The interior walls are accented with intricate geometric decorations while the original library is the only section which doesn’t follow this style and is designed with wooden panels. The dramatic center piece is a tall limestone tower. This building is worth taking a detour for.
