Nashville via Oklahoma country star Vince Gill has been a prominent figure on the scene since the early 70s when he fronted the popular country rock band Pure Prairie League. In 1983, GIll broke away from the band and went solo, a move that ultimately won him over 18 CMA awards and a sale of 22 million+ albums to country pop fans across the country. Gill is also known for his successful duets, including one with former wife Janis Oliver and another with current wife Amy Grant, making him a highly sought after musician to work with.

An Evening With Drive-by Truckers
Charleston Music Hall January 30, 2015 9:00 PM
37 John Street
Charleston, SC 29403
Like most alt-country acts on the scene today, the Georgia based group Drive-By Truckers believes in the undaunted power of analog recording equipment. The group employs no real synthesized instruments--in fact, the group has three guitarists--and when the band goes into the studio, it prefers to lay down its songs on two inch tape as opposed to digital recording methods, the industry standards. The nostalgic approach to song writing/recording that Drive-By Truckers employs is working to the group's advantage, however. The band has been a favorite of critics ever since it released its debut LP in 1998 and with a rousing stage show that highlights each member's instrumental prowess, Drive-By Truckers has proven to be one of the more rewarding alt-country bands to track.

Charleston Symphony: Music From Amadeus
Dock Street TheatreJanuary 30, 2015 7:30 PM
135 Church Street
Charleston, SC 29401

Founded in 1936 by the philanthropic endeavors of Maude Winthrop Gibbon and Martha Laurens Patterson, the Charleston Symphony is one of South Carolina's more well respected orchestras. Brought to national acclaim by musical director David Stahl, who studied under the revered conductor Leonard Bernstein, the symphony received laudation for its innovative and fresh approach throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Typically employing around 25 musicians, the Charleston Symphony's sound might not be as sonically rich as some of its national contemporaries, but it is nonetheless just as professional sounding.
