»Acs Nano Workshop Fff & Sp-icp-ms Training

March 31, 2015 12:30 PM

PerkinElmer, in partnership with Colorado School of Mines, is providing a hands-on workshop where researchers can learn from the experts on Single Particle-ICP-MS and Field Flow Fractionation (FFF) technologies, in a working laboratory set-up.  This rare opportunity will focus on using these techniques for characterizing nano particles.  Many application areas will be discussed, including: environmental release and exposure, nanoparticle life cycle, fate, transformation and environmental impact of nano materials. We welcome members from academic institutions, government agencies and industrial companies to join us for this unique training session. Registration Includes: A rare opportunity to receive hands on training for characterizing metallic nano particles by SP-ICP-MS and FFF (Field Flow Fractionation) Understanding options for characterizing nano particles in aqueous solutions Training on how to get the most out of your FFF and/or SP-ICP-MSLearn the latest in FFF and SP-ICP-MS method techniques for nano particles Ability to collaborating with other professionals interested in characterizing nano particlesAll necessary training materials and refreshmentsHands On SP-ICP-MS System and Application Training with Nano Particles Detecting and measuring single particles  by SP-ICP-MS has been well-studied in recent years. Analysis in single particle  mode uses thousands of fast, individual readings with the goal of capturing individual nano particle events one at a time. The particle mass can then be determined by the intensity of the SP-ICP-MS  response.  These capabilities provide users with  several important nanoparticle characteristics such as inorganic composition,  concentration, size, size distribution, agglomeration as well as the ability to differentiate between ionic and particulate fractions. Collection and processing of spICP-MS data will utilize the newly released Nano Application Module within PerkinElmers Syngistix for ICP-MS software that is the ideal tool for laboratories analyzing nanomaterials. This unique application module allows the differentiation and quantification between the dissolved and particulate fractions of the same analyte. The Syngistix Nano Application Module is the worlds first single particle ICP-MS dedicated analysis software, delivering speed, flexibility, automation, and ease-of-use.   www.perkinelmer.com Hands On FFF System and Application Training with Nano Particles Field-flow fractionation, abbreviated FFF, is a separation technique where a field is applied to a fluid suspension or solution pumped through a long and narrow channel, perpendicular to the direction of flow, in order to cause separation of the particles present in the fluid, dependent on their differing "mobilities" under the force exerted by the field. http://www.postnova.com Coupling FFF to SP-ICP-MS provides element analysis over a broad size range, providing users with  several important nanoparticle characteristics such as inorganic composition,  concentration, size, and size distribution.  Hands-on training will include FFF operating procedures, optimization of separation conditions, and data processing.

»Andy Grammer

March 31, 2015 8:00 PM

After New York native Andy Grammer moved to Los Angles at the tender age of 20, he started busking on the famous Third Street Promenade. His splashy pop stylings and contemporary R&B flourishes got him noticed and he spent the next couple years touring around the American college scene, opening for blockbuster artists such as The Plain White T's. Andy soon graduated to bringing his radio-friendly songs and all-American charisma to the national stage.

»Straight No Chaser

April 01, 2015 8:00 PM

Straight No Chaser (SNC) is an American vocal group from Bloomington, Indiana. The group's name is taken from a jazz piece by Thelonious Monk. It began as a cappella group at Indiana Univsersity in 1996. The group performed both modern and traditional songs on campus and beyond, and finally signed a record deal with Atlantic Records in 2008. The SNC is still also in rotation at the university, as a separate entity. The group has even performed at Carnegie Hall. Both groups perform popular pop songs as well as musical ballads.

»Mushroomhead With Special Guests

April 01, 2015 7:00 PM

Initially starting Mushroomhead as a side project to their others bands and donning masks and stage names to disassociate themselves from these bands, the members of the Cleveland-based collective quickly became known for these costumes. Playing its first two shows in 1993 with popular thrash metal band GWAR--a group also known for over-the-top costuming--Mushroomhead immediately developed a cult following and has maintained this fan base ever since. With it's heavy industrial metal and thematically dark stage show, Mushroomhead has been featured on multiple horror film soundtracks and been included in tours like Ozzfest and Mayhem Festival.
