Bars & Cafes
Since 1973, this restaurant has been a favorite place for celebrations and good times. The costumed servers are determined to make your visit an enjoyable one: the restaurant's motto is "Dine laughing" and the servers take it seriously. The menu features standard American fare, including steaks, rib eyes, grilled seafood and chicken, all served with fresh baked bread as well as soup and salad from the converted 1952 MG roadster salad bar. The Roman Orgy feast is a vast quantity of brisket, smoked chicken, baby back ribs and mounds of fresh fruit and vegetables. Eat it in the Orgy Pit, the Mineshaft or one of the other themed seating areas. Whatever you do, go determined to have a good time. Magic Time Machine draws a young crowd of diners and is a favored site for birthday parties. Eat, drink and be merry while being served by characters from popular films. Full bar of alcoholic beverages. Banqueting space available. Check the website or call ahead for opening hours.
A friendly atmosphere with a unique design. Twisted metal and a lounge like feel make this place a favorite of the Alamo Heights crowd. The Rebar bar is almost always packed and has a great outdoor patio where one can sit back with a cold beer and enjoy the crowd.Whether you are inside or out you will not be disappointed.
A simple and cozy atmosphere engulfs you as you enter the dimly-lit Karma Bar. The decor of the house is set in Asian style with paintings of Buddha and wooden furniture set across the room. A perfect place to have a decent conversation with jazz and soul music playing in the background. However, the variety of exotic drinks offered in the bar menu makes this place a hangout place with a difference. Call for more information.
The Revolution Room brings you a night full of fun and entertainment with its impressive line-up of music performances and live acts. Sip on a drink as you groove to the fast paced music or dance to the tunes of the DJs. Special events, themed nights, and pool games make sure you have a good time. You can also choose to put up at the motel's rooms after a late night show. Call for more details on current and upcoming events and exact show times.
The first impression that you probably get when you enter Cootey's Tavern is the excitement, comfort and happiness of Cheers, the ever famous television show. The cozy place is popular with the locals and is great for a drink after dinner or even a casual dinner. They have a pool table, dart boards and also a television to flip through. Hooked up with a karaoke machine, a casual night is often turned into a diva discovery night. You'll even have a band once in a while to entertain you. Do contact the venue for more information.
Big business, big celebrities and big money pass through these doors every night. It is not unusual to see local moguls, San Antonio Spurs' players and socialites holding court over elaborate meals. The perfectly broiled-to-order prime steaks, fresh seafood and impeccable service make Ruth's Chris Steak House a popular place for special occasions, client dinners and other celebrations. In addition to a wonderful meal, enjoy a full bar, an extensive wine list and a well-stocked humidor. Semi-private dining areas are also available.
One of the most acclaimed Italian restaurants in San Antonio, Paesano's has been a local favorite for decades. Tourists are most familiar with its location on the River Walk. But the one just north of downtown in Lincoln Heights, near the Quarry Marketplace, offers the same great menu in a different atmosphere. Paesano's in Lincoln Heights is relaxed yet sophisticated, a place to see and be seen. Be sure to visit on a nice day during sunset. The west room has a spectacular sunset view overlooking the Quarry Golf Course—it's a view that you would not want to miss, especially with that special someone. You can choose from a variety of dinners including red snapper sautéed with artichokes, mushrooms and white wine and shrimp with fra diavolo sauce. Of course, the restaurant would not be the same without its namesake, Gamberi Paesano (Shrimp Paesano), which is served as either an appetizer or a dinner.
Known as "The Lab" by locals, this hot spot was the first true brewpub in the city. It serves up great burgers and such for dinner, but it's the after-hours atmosphere that draws the crowds. Four proprietary beer varieties are brewed on site to complement the fully stocked bar. Locals and visitors revel in hanging out on the breezy patio and enjoying the live music. Get there early if you want a table and any semblance of service, because it gets packed later in the evening.
The décor here is something between a rustic ranch house and a polished hacienda. The interior is fairly standard, with booths and tables, but the wrought-iron tables that dot the patio add a comfortable charm. Strategically placed heaters keep the patio warm and wonderful year-round. A full bar serves several draft and bottled beers as well as a good selection of wine. If you are hungry, drop in for lunch or an early dinner. Start with the divine artichoke dip and then dig in to the pecan breaded chicken. Note that the kitchen stops serving food two hours before closing time.
A restaurant that brings the elegance and class of an upscale restaurant, while also ensuring the guests are comfortable, relaxed and can enjoy a meal casually. Their motto, "Fried Chicken and Champagne? Why the Hell Not?", speaks of the kind of experience one can expect at MAX's. On the menu, you will find favorites like sliders, fried chicken, and pork tenderloin, but they all have a signature touch that has earned this place many followers. There is also a bar that offers a fine selection of wine, so your delectable food can find scintillating partners in this culinary escapade. The restaurant also hosts live music performances and other events, so do check that out as well. Call to know more.

Virtually hidden in an unassuming strip center behind one of the city's largest shopping malls, this bar is a favorite of young and old alike. Dripping in red velvet, naugahyde-covered chairs and subdued lighting, the small space is filled to capacity by locals who come to see the bar's owner perform on stage. The owner is probably one of the best cover singers around, possessing the uncanny ability to sound exactly like Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson or anyone else, for that matter. This is the epitome of a lounge act, and the Mylar "rain" curtain behind the stage is icing on the cake.
