It's called a monome--it’s a light board matrix controller that's connected to a computer. The purpose of this musical instrument is to create a myriad of sampled instrumental sounds--a collage of sounds if you will. While this instrument is considered by many to be a slightly abstract music tool, the Los Angles-based electronic maestro Daedelus uses the monome to its full advantage. Dressing in Victorian-era clothing during his live performances, Daedelus (or Alfred Darlington) controls the monome with theatrical hand movements that highlight the musicians affection for performance ability.

    Thankskilling The Musical

"Gobble gobble, mother$&@%!" To anyone who's seen the unabashedly crass and offensive horror-comedy cult hit "ThanksKilling", those words should be familiar. For anyone who hasn't seen the B-movie bonanza -- in which a filth-spouting, misogynistic, possessed, psychopathic turkey (portrayed by a hand puppet) goes on a killing spree -- that catch phrase should provide a pretty good barometer as to the type of entertainment on offer here. Throw some ridiculous songs into the mix and you have the deliriously offbeat stage comedy "ThanksKilling the Musical". If you're looking to kick traditional holiday entertainment to the curb, you'd be hard-pressed to find a bigger boot than this hilarious show.

In Mexico, the holiday is normally spent decorating altars and then holding parties in cemeteries. Sherman Heights holds its own Dia de Los Muertos celebration featuring a candlelight procession, festive altars, workshops and much more. Please visit the event website for additional details.
