An engaging personality and acclaimed recording artist with impeccable technique, Israeli pianist Inon Barnatan has earned an international reputation as a Schubert specialist, and he'll show off his stuff by playing the composer's Sonata in A Major for this concert's finale. Barnatan's won rave reviews for his performances with major orchestras here and abroad, including from the "London Standard," which calls him "a true poet of the keyboard: refined, searching, unfailingly communicative." La Jolla Music Society welcomes Barnatan back to perform works by Bach, Franck and Barber, in addition to Schubert, at MCASD's Sherwood Auditorium. The recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, Barnatan was just named the New York Philharmonic's first Artist in Association and has played at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, as well as with the L.A. Phil at the Hollywood Bowl. Arrive early for a pre-concert lecture hosted by Steven Cassedy, professor of Slavic and Comparative Literature at UC San Diego.

Darrell Hammond is a stand-up comedian from Melbourne, FL who is known for his uncanny impressions. He first came to widespread attention in 1995 when he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live as a writer and featured player. While on the show, he set the record as longest consecutive cast member as well as the record for most impressions by a single cast member. After his 14 year run with SNL, Hammond retired from the show in 2009 but is still known for his impersonations of Donald Trump, John Travolta, Sean Connery and President Bill Clinton.

The evening's program begins with Schuloff's Five Pieces for String Quartet, which is followed by Chausson's Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet in D Major, Op. 21. Featured musicians include violinist Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, the Miami String Quartet and pianist Anne-Marie McDermott.
