The largest zoo in western Nebraska includes a mixture of exotic and regional animals.
Previously known as Riverside Park and Zoo, Riverside Discovery Center is a combination of children's museum, zoo and natural history museum. Animals from all over the world are housed at Riverside Discovery Center, and there is a petting zoo that includes llamas, pot-bellied pigs and donkeys. Apart from all the exhibits, this 25-acre (10.12 hectare) space also includes the Splash Pad, picnic areas and more.
The Scott Bluff National Monument was established in 1919 and has many bluffs and rock formations along its path. This national monument has scenic trails, a visitor center, special ranger assisted hiking program and so forth. Check website for details.
The Chimney Rock is an enormous geological formation that rises nearly 300 feet (91 meters) above the surrounding North River Valley. With its peak at 4226 feet (1288 meters) above sea level, it is visible from quite a distance. This natural landmark is a National Historic Site that attracts the attention of visitors along the Oregon Trail. Tours to this site are available all year round.
