»Marcus; Or The Secret Of Sweet

April 01, 2015 8:00 PM

Set in bayou country days before a huge storm strikes, this Actor's Express production of "Marcus; or the Secret of Sweet" follows a young man named Marcus, whose startlingly "sweet" dreams feel more like bad omens. As the Louisiana air thickens, Marcus sets out to discover the "secret" of who he really is, and he begins asking questions about the father he never met. From Tarell Alvin McCraney -- the wildly talented writer of "Choir Boy" and "In the Red and Brown Water" -- this authentic, provocative and uncommonly magical play will transport you to a theatrical world unlike any other.

»Anamanaguchi

April 01, 2015 9:00 PM

New York-based Anamanaguchi claims to use a 1985 Nintendo Super NES to make almost all of its music. The hyper, neon sounds of the NES make for an epileptic listening experience, which is then amplified by the fact that Anamanaguchi injects punk percussion into many of its tracks, resulting in a truly neck-breaking experience. The band has chosen to self-release much of its music, presumably due to the copyrighted glitch samples lifted from 1980s Nintendo games. The band does tour though, offering a live experience worthy of any die-hard gamer's extracurricular time.

April 01, 2015 7:00 PM

Formed in New York in 1999, Taking Back Sunday is an alternative rock band that experienced a considerable amount of commercial success throughout the 2000s. After independently releasing its full-length debut Tell All Your Friends, in 2002 and its follow up Where You Want To Be, in 2004, Taking Back Sunday began earning increasing amounts of mainstream exposure and eventually signed a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records in 2006. The band's major label debut Louder Now, earned widespread critical acclaim and earned the respect of international audiences as well as its faithful following from its independent days. Despite major changes to its lineup, Taking Back Sunday continues to be a driving force behind contemporary alternative rock with releases such as its 2011 eponymous record.
