For Sarah and James, taking time to "cool off" from covering the world's hot spots may very well lead to an all-out meltdown in the clever drama "Time Stands Still". A war photojournalist, Sarah has been temporarily grounded due to injuries she sustained in Iraq. But when James stays home to take care of her, it soon becomes clear that he's wounded as well. In a mesmerizing and often sharply humorous fashion, this adventurous couple confronts a dramatic possibility they never before considered: a conventional life. Written by Pulitzer-winning playwright Donald Margulies ("Dinner with Friends", "Collected Stories"), this show was nominated in 2010 for a Tony Award for Best Play. Now you can catch the Peter's Alley Theatre Productions presentation of "Time Stands Still" on the stage of Theatre on the Run.

One of the hottest recent tickets on Broadway and a 2012 Tony nominee, "Other Desert Cities" now comes to the nation's capital with a run at the James Lee Community Center. This latest play from Pulitzer Prize finalist Jon Robin Baitz (creator of TV's "Brothers & Sisters") is a smart drama filled with witty repartee that both dazzles and decimates. Brooke Wyeth returns to her politically conservative parents' glamorous Palm Springs home to spend the holidays with them. But the warm desert air turns chilly when news of her upcoming memoir threatens to revive the most painful chapter of the family's history. Perception and reality battle love and mercy as old family wounds are reopened, childhood memories are tested, and the Wyeth clan learns that some secrets can't stay buried forever. Full of deeply felt moments, "Other Desert Cities" brings dysfunctional family drama to new heights. "The New York Times" called it "the best new play on Broadway," and audiences everywhere are finding it both entertaining and insightful.

Enjoy a pair of one-act comedies starring adult actors with intellectual disabilities at the Gunston Arts Center. In the wily high school whodunit "Murder on Prom Night", everyone's a suspect -- even the marching band. Then in "A Tale of Two Zip Codes", the whole town must flee for rural living. Crooks, divas and even the mayor unplug to escape the city life in this original musical. Featuring a cast of adult actors with intellectual disabilities and directed by theater professionals, ArtStream's Inclusive Theatre Companies produce original musicals based on members' own ideas, characters and improvisations. Products of months of hard work, the plays showcase the unique talents of each actor.
