Formed in 1962, The Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale is the largest professional symphonic organization in the Permian Basin. Their season includes a Masterworks Series of four performances, a four event Pops Series, special events, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker ballet, and youth concerts.
The oldest existing organization of its kind in the country, this unique theatre company performs highly entertaining and amusing performances filled with mayhem and hilarity from early June through Labor Day.

Cole Theatre is the home of the Midland Community Theatre, one of the top ten amateur theatre groups in the nation. Various musicals and dramas are produced each season.
The Midland Community Theatre plans, performs, and produces numerous plays throughout the year. Adding significantly to the arts scene in Midland, Broadway musicals as well as smaller plays in any one of three different facilities. As one of the largest community theater groups in the United States, volunteers as well as paid professionals all contribute to making each performance a success. The Community Theatre puts on Summer Mummers as a fundraiser, and also provides various classes on acting and dance for both children and adults.
A Class AA Minor League Baseball team, the Midland Rockhounds, an affiliate of the Oakland A's, play from April to September.
Local jazz, pop, country and folk music groups perform Sunday evenings from June until August during this annual event.
