Center for the Arts at George Mason University puts on Great Performances and is associated with the College of Visual and Performing Arts. This college believes exploring each art as an individual discipline and gaining in depth information about interdisciplinary forms. They work with the knowledge that education is enhanced when you come in contact with artists through their work, lectures, demonstrations and other creative endeavors. Following an extensive renovation, this old movie theater reopened in 1998 as a venue for national and regional country, bluegrass, rock and folk bands. Great effort went into restoring the original luster of this art deco theatre. Smoking is prohibited in the dining area and the balcony of the State Theatre. The kitchen offers burgers, nachos, enchiladas and vegetarian entrees. Pasta dishes are also available. All these make this venue a delightful one.
