The Palais Rohan is one of Strasbourg's most beautiful edifices. It was built in 1704 at the demand of Cardinal Armand de Rohan-Soubise, prince-bishop of Strasbourg, based on the plans of Robert de Cotte, the king's first architect. In the main courtyard the palace has a classic façade with a central pediment, and the length of the terrace, beside the river Ill, the façade is of pure classic style decorated with Corinthian columns on the main body of the building. Today the Palais Rohan houses the Museum of Decorative Arts , the Musée des Beaux-Arts and the Archeological Museum
