Aqua Terra Bistro has attracted widespread attention for their delicious cuisine and elegant setting. The Old South ambiance creates a very comfortable and at-home feel in the lovely dining room, where most of the small town's movers and shakers show up regularly. Specializing in seafood, steaks and pasta, the exquisite menu by chef Brian Legault illustrates a contemporary spin on the classics and offers a wide variety to please every palate. Seared Scallops and Honey Glazed Scottish Salmon are popular favorites. Selections of beer, wine and beverages are available.
Housed in a charming restored farmhouse, Kurt's Bistro provides a fun, authentic dining atmosphere with plenty of European charm and ambiance without sacrificing any attention to detail. The menu offers a variety of seafood and steaks along with European specialty dishes with an emphasis on traditional German specialty dishes. You can also choose between different draft beers, a large variety of specialty bottled beers, a complete wine list.
Presented in a family dining setting, this north suburban spot is a diamond in the rough, though well-known among locals. The amazing variety of fish is fresh and served unadorned, allowing the full natural taste to really come through. A number of non-aquatic items like steaks and chicken are also offered, and are presented with similar no-nonsense simplicity. Reservations are not necessary, but even a half hour out of the city, the wait can be long on weekends. A nice bar is on hand for solace during the wait. See website for menu and calendar of events (including ping pong and charity golf tournaments).
Just northeast of Atlanta, in Lilburn, this barbecue joint was the genesis of the other joint in Roswell, putting its time and effort where its mouth is, and recognizing that the sauce is the key. Spiced Right wouldn't qualify as a barbecue restaurant if it were too fancy, but the dining room is nicer than many. Few frills, of course, just a cool, comfortable place to wolf down gorgeous barbecues. Ribs, pulled beef, pork and barbecue chicken are all on the menu, and their sauces are renowned. Enjoy a delicious meal at Spiced Right Smokehouse BBQ.
Hi Life sets the new standard for fine dining in Norcross. Owner and Executive Chef Gregg Zeringue fashions traditional American fare with new twists that will surely impress you. The softly-lit, wood-paneled dining room features a long bar in the rear, where an extensive wine list of over 100 varieties is highlighted by a few rare American labels.
A family business, this small restaurant offers authentic Colombian food for very reasonable prices. A small, cozy atmosphere is created by the family treatment the owners and employees afford their customers. The menu features authentic food, including Pechuga de pollo a la plancha, Mini Bandeja and various plantain preparations. An excellent selection of tropical fruit drinks is available. Enjoy a Latin fare at Patacon Pisa'O.
If you like your Thai food hot, try the dishes at Siamese Basil, where each entree is specially made to the taste of the diner. Choose between very mild, mild, medium hot and Thai hot, but be careful, because even the mild dishes are pretty spicy. Each entree is served with a salad and soup or a spring roll. For your main course, try the lamb chops with basil sauce or Phad Phad (fried catfish served in a basil sauce).
Altobeli's offers fine dining in the classic Italian style to happy suburbanites and folks whose business takes them north of town. Stop by for a bit of music and relaxation in the handsome piano bar. Reservations for evening dining are strongly encouraged. Peruse the well-orchestrated wine list, which features a good showing of Italian and domestic varieties. Full bar service is also available.
You can always find a reliable meal at J.R.'s Log House. The dining room is large and often hosts large groups during the lunch rush in midweek and dinner hours on weekends. The booths and tables make JR's more of a restaurant than a rib shack. Great Brunswick stew, great sides, and great sandwiches are available. The pulled pork and shredded beef sandwiches come in traditional plain white paper wrappers, and are easier to take in the car than a slab of ribs.
It's always a pleasure to find a club or restaurant with its own personality and unique style, and that's exactly what you'll find here. VINNY'S on Windward sizzles with energy and people who congregate for both the atmosphere and food. This north side hideaway is set in a tin-roofed woodsy cabin, and serves up consistently outstanding, artistically-prepared dishes for lunch and dinner. Save room for dessert too, and enjoy a Vinny's specialty.
Rising Roll Gourmet makes great sandwiches with fresh homemade bread. If you've got business up north of the perimeter, a better lunch spot than this is tough to find. The dining area is always clean and friendly, a normal deli setting with a few tables and an ordering counter. A patio is also available for dining during the warmer months. The sandwiches can be ordered large or small, and the line cooks are generous with the toppings. A nice array of salads and soups is also available.
This comfortable suburban spot offers northsiders a great place to savor some great American specialties in a casual atmosphere. Upscale-chic is the best way to describe the friendly interior. Families will feel as much at home as the regular business crowd that frequents the restaurant. Full dinners such as steaks, fish and wonderful pastas headline the menu, but there's also plenty of lighter fare from which to choose. Burgers, wood fired pizza, sandwiches, salads and a nice selection of appetizers are all reasonably priced. Sunday brunch is served from 11a to 3p.
