The noted First Reformed Church is also regarded as the First Reformed United Church of the Christ. The church site was constructed in 1927 and has gained tremendous historic significance. This structure is a great representation of the Late Gothic Revival style of architecture. The church site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 2000.
Located in a historic Quaker meeting house, this museum is filled with the everyday items necessary to 19th century rural life in a Quaker community. Displays for cloth making, shoemaking, cooking, and farming are on site, as well as artifacts from typical Colonial Quaker homesteads. Tours are available by appointment only.
With an outdoor swimming pool to cut laps across, an elegant clubhouse building, beautifully manicured lawns and shady trees, Emerywood Country Club is a great place to go to relax and unwind. The club also has golf and tennis facilities and serves as a venue for weddings and banquets.
The historic Grace Episcopal Church has been serving the community of Lexington since 1902. The eye-catching church building was constructed in the Late Gothic Revival style of architecture, and has been extremely well maintained. Besides actively engaging with the community through its ministries, the church also hosts numerous cultural events throughout the year.
John Coltrane was much celebrated American jazz saxophonist and composer. His works are considered as a great contribution to the field of music. He was one of the most notable residents of High Point and the statue a tribute to this Jazz star. The statue is eight feet tall and is made of bronze. It is located right across the High Point Theater.
A very unique interactive health education center where you can ride a bike with Mr. Bones, the bicycling skeleton, or measure your height against a life-size Michael Jordan. You can also get health tips from TAM, a talking, transparent mannequin, as well as enjoy many more educational and informative hands-on exhibits.
Full public library that contains a rich collection of nearly 400,000 books, music recordings, videotapes, audiobooks, periodicals, and newspapers plus features a large genealogy department.
High Point touts itself as the "Furniture Capital of the World" and this chest of drawers was built to honor that title. Standing 32 feet (9.8 meters) tall, it's quite an impressive sight. Built in 1920, the chest of drawer even features a couple of dangling socks to pay tribute to the town's hosiery industry. As if that wasn't enough, High Point actually has two giant chests of drawers. The other is built onto the side of a building in the Furnitureland South complex and stands about 80 feet (24 meters) tall.
Established in 1970, this library houses the largest collection of books in the world on the history of furniture and is nationally recognized as a center for research on furniture, furniture design, decorating, and architecture. Special tours are available by appointment.
This 21.5 acre park has three ball fields, a playground, tennis courts, a basketball court, picnic shelter and a recreation center.
High Point University was established in 1924 and has a wide array of courses for the students. The university has a beautiful and well maintained campus and houses an arboretum. The university is open to public visits and guided tours are provided. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. High Point Museum is a museum which records and displays the culture and history of High Point. The museum has many interactive and interesting exhibits, fun activities for kids and more. They are also involved in several activities such as archiving the local history, artifact preservation drives and so on.
