    »Dream Theater

    October 20, 2014 7:00 PM

Dream Theater is a progressive rock band that was formed in 1985 by musicians who were studying at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. Distinguishing itself with virtuoistic instrumental arrangements and nontraditional time signatures, Dream Theater built a reputation for itself as an extremely skilled band that favors substance over style. Though the group's co-founder and drummer Mike Portnoy left the group in 2011, after trying out several adept drummers, drum prodigy Mike Mangini was brought aboard to fill Dream Theater's rhythmic void.

Known for his portrayal of the iconic character Don José in Carmen, Jonas Kaufmann is a tenor from Germany who began his operatic career at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken in 1994. Within a year of his career he turned to American baritone Michael Rhodes as a mentor and unlocked in himself both confidence and new levels of technical ability. He spent the 2006 to 2007 season as Don José in Bizet's Carmen, earning critical acclaim, setting a new standard for the role and solidifying himself as a seasoned thespian of opera.
