Referencing the three founding brothers' last name, not their religion, The Christians is a soul-influenced new wave band formed in the UK in 1985. Though the group never achieved widespread success in the US, it had several singles hit the Top 10 spots on the UK Charts in the 80s and 90s. The band broke up in 1995 due to front man Garry Christian embarking on a solo career, but in 1999, he reformed the band with an entirely different lineup; the new incarnation tours and releases new material today.

»Mt.takao Momiji Festival

November 29, 2014

This festival enables city dwellers to enjoy the fiery red leaves of autumn on top of Mt. Takao, which is just 50 minutes from Shinjuku by limited express train on the Keio Line. While enjoying the view, you can go shopping; there are stalls selling native sake (Japanese liquor), forest crafts, traditional food delicacies and souvenirs. You can also watch the taiko (Japanese style drum beating) contest in Tenbo Square.

If classical composers were provided electric guitars, basses, keyboards and drum sets; they'd probably make music that sounds similar to Yes. The English group was founded in the late 60s and is primarily known for combining elements of symphonic orchestrations with aspects of progressive rock. The band's songs tend to highlight each members instrumental prowess and though the group has transcended multiple music genres, it is best regarded for its innovation with the progressive rock genre.

Ken Ishii became famous with the release of his album Jelly Tones in 1995. He also produces songs for movies and events (like the official theme song for the winter Olympics in Nagano). Ken founded his own record label, 70 Drums, in the year 2002. His keen ear for the swaying power of house and electro sound has kept Ishii's talent innovative and sharp.
