The Price
Alder StageApril 19, 2015 7:30 PM
1516 SW Alder Street
Portland, OR 97205
Two long-estranged brothers dig through their deceased father's belongings, only to unearth long buried resentments and secrets in Arthur Miller's "The Price". Considering the man wrote 25 plays, including "Death of a Salesman" and "The Crucible", it's notable that "The New York Times" ranks "The Price" among "the most engrossing and entertaining plays that Miller has ever written." Chalk it up to the play's instantly engaging plot where two brothers -- one a cop of modest means, the other a successful surgeon -- both return home to clean the attic of their father's soon-to-be-demolished brownstone. But when their discussion moves from the value of heirlooms to the values of their lives, the stage is set for a confrontation decades in the making. Now, in the centennial year of Miller's birth, the Artists Repertory Theatre presents an exciting new production of "The Price" at Morrison Stage.
