The St. Peter's Cathedral is a historic cathedral located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Also the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Scranton, it was built in 1867 in the Romanesque style of architecture by Joel Amsden and Lewis Hancock. The cathedral features two towers, a pedimented portico, Greek style pillars and arched windows depicting various scenes from the Bible. The façade of the church is strikingly symmetric.
The Lackawanna Avenue Commercial Historic District is located in Scranton and has an area of 18.5 acres (7.5 hectares). The district has many historic buildings which are predominantly made with the Late Victorian, Art Deco and Classical Revival styles of architecture. Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, formerly the Wachovia Arena, is a 8,000-seater facility that brings top-name entertainment and performances that shouldn't be missed. Other than sporting events, the arena is also a popular venue for concerts and has hosted some big names including Elton John, Cher, Janet Jackson, The Eagles and the American Idol finalists.
The West Side Park on Grand Street is where you can set your kids free so that they can enjoy and play on the slides or roll on the lawn. The park is maintained by the city council and it serves as a perfect place to host a picnic with family or a group of kids. As for its capacity as a venue, West Side Park hosts mid-sized concerts and other cultural events regularly.
