At a small distance to the west of Walla Walla in the U.S. State of Washington lies the Whitman Mission National Historic Site. The site originated and was established in the year 1836. It was erected in the name of the Whitman National Monument. The site has been founded to commemorate the lives and efforts of the Whitmans and their challenges. The site stands registered on the National Register of Historic Places.
