The Great Divorce
Lansburgh TheaterDecember 28, 2014 7:00 PM
450 7th Street Northwest
Washington, DC 20004
Fellowship for Performing Arts, the company behind the acclaimed hit "The Screwtape Letters", brings another of C.S. Lewis' fascinating fantasies to the stage. As in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", "The Great Divorce" brims with Lewis' signature wit and imagination as it follows several colorful characters on a bus ride from a suburb in hell to the outskirts of heaven, while exploring the vagaries of human nature and the divide between good and evil. Adapted by Max McLean and Brian Watkins with the blessing of the Lewis estate, this production is part of a national tour and stars Broadway actors Tom Beckett, Christa Scott-Reed and Joel Rainwater from the U.S. run of "The Lion King".

Gogol Bordello
9:30 ClubDecember 28, 2014
815 V Street Northwest
Washington, DC 20001
At its core, Gogol Bordello is a band that mixes Eastern European musical influences with modern rock and punk sensibilities to create a style of music that has been deemed Gypsy Punk. Formed in 1999 in the Lower East Side of New York City by a group of immigrants, the band initially played purist gypsy music at Russian weddings. After dropping a single with more modern western influences to much acclaim, Gogol Bordello established itself as a band unafraid to do its own thing. Entertaining audiences through high energy shows with theatrical elements haphazardly thrown in, that typically feature the band playing an unusual assortment of instruments and dancing like maniacs, Gogol Bordello is a live performance not to be missed.
