Bars & Cafes
Locals and tourists who want to get away from the 'scene' of Atlantic City find Wonder Bar to be a refreshing alternative to the high energy vibe of the big casinos. Wonder Bar is situated right on the water and has a room appropriately named The Sunset Room, where you can eat from their fabulous menu while watching the sky turn every shade of pink and orange, slowly turning the boats in the harbor into silhouettes. Dine on savory Jumbo Lump Crabcakes or ‘Naked' NY Strip Steak and decadent desserts like Triple Chocolate Cake.
Whether it's a late night oyster craving or a midday gelato fix, The Metropolitan can hook you up. In addition, the menu has sandwiches, salads, soups, and more upscale entrees like Classic Oyster Stew. The restaurant is open all night most days of the week. You may feel guilty about indulging in their Philly Cheese Steak in the wee hours of the morning but the price is something you can feel good about. For great food at any hour of the day at reasonable prices head on down to The Metropolitan.
Patsy's Trattoria provides Italian meals at cheap prices without compromising on the quality of the dishes. Savor the rich and creamy melted cheese in the Clams Posilipo, or the tanginess of the Risotto Pie with juicy tomatoes. The trattoria located inside The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel is a gourmet's delight and offers Prix-fixe meals to relish each course individually and experience an entire Italian meal. Try the wines with the food to wash down the taste and prepare oneself for the onslaught of the dessert. Do not leave without a bite of the Tiramisu and Nutella Ricotta Cheesecake.
A visit to The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel is not complete with dropping in at the Simon AC- a spectacular steakhouse serving quality steaks and American grilled food. Start the meal with a Shrimp Cocktail followed by a Rib-Eye Steak. The bar serves chilled beer that instantly quenches the thirst. The cocktails are also worth trying out especially the French Kiss with vodka, lime and champagne and the Latin Lover with tequila, tarragon and grapefruit. Enjoy happy hours at the bar between 5p to 7p everyday. Pre-set meals are also available.
With over a hundred cocktails on the menu and a bar set in an authentic sailboat, you might actually begin to believe you are out on the ocean after enough drinks. The Dizzy Dolphin's creative cocktails include The Titanic, The Hurricane, Bon Voyage, Clam Digger, The Foghorn, Barrier Reef and Ocean Blues. Live bands are also present to cover classic artists like Frank Sinatra and Barry Manilow.
You can drink anytime of the day. Not that you should, but at Chelsea Pub it's a possibility. Apart from cold drinks, the pub also serves various pub fare like hamburgers, seafood and subs. It's inexpensive and always open. What more needs to be said?
The people here know a thing or two about Italian cooking. Unlike most people, whose Italian cooking skills are limited to spaghetti and a frozen lasagna, the owners prepare dishes with skill and attention. After 20 years in the business, you better believe they know what sauce goes great with linguine. With all of this knowledge under their belt, anything you order is bound to be superb. The cuisine is typically northern Italy and the Mediterranean influence is apparent in that they serve whole, fresh fish and other dishes that are native to the region.
Gypsy Bar is one of the the best places to check out the night life of Atlantic City; it is located inside Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. A favorite among locals and visitors alike—Gypsy Bar has a very laid-back atmosphere. And while you tap your feet to some wonderful live performances, unwind with your choice of margaritas or sangrias. Gypsy Bar has over 80 different tequilas and around 15 varieties of beer, so pick your favorite or sample a little bit of everything! And munch on some finger food like rock n' roll fries, crabby patty's or chips and salsa.
The promise of coffee when one sees the Starbucks logo is international. Whether you're strolling in for your morning fix or need a boost before a night of dancing, this Starbucks at the Borgata Hotel Casino, is in a convenient location for hotel guests and casino goers.
Another one of the fine dining venues in the Borgata Hotel Casino, is the Izakaya. This restaurant reinvents the Japanese specialties of sushi, sake and robatayaki (where customers sit around a table top grill and watch the chef) with a contemporary touch. The traditional Japanese tea served here also comes with a novel touch in this modern Japanese pub.
Tired of contemporary life with its endless advertisements and recycled ideas? Then visit Girasole, located on Pacific Avenue at South Chelsea Avenue in Atlantic City, for a refreshing trip back to the old world and its many charms. Upon entering, you'll be transported to an authentic Mediterranean café with its aromas of homemade pasta dishes, fresh seafood creations, and gourmet pizza fresh out of the brick oven. You have the option of dining in the elegant restaurant or in the lush garden patio during the warmer seasons. So bring your appetite and prepare for some fine Italian dining.
Chelsea Prime, is one of the restaurants in The Chelsea by Starr Restaurants, the Philly favorites. On the fifth story of the hotel lies this signature restaurant, where the guests can socialize. The theme is classic. Whether inside the restaurant or in the outdoor dining space, you will surely enjoy the steaks. Try some of the cocktails at the lounge too. In continuation with the classic theme is the grand white piano and pictures of the city in the 1940s. From the level at which the restaurant is placed, the views of the sea are exquisite. A more casual option is the Teplitzky's that is open 'round the clock.
